Welcome!  Clara’s House volunteers, board members, executive director, and current clients welcome you to Clara’s House, a home for compassionate, comprehensive healthcare to those most in need. We invite you to learn a little more about us, and are grateful for your desire to be part of our dream.

Clara’s House is a new, small Primary Care Nurse Practitioner clinic in Sacramento on the threshold . . . a starting place sorely needed by those who have no other resources. Clara’s House is a place where concerned citizens can take small, yet effective, steps to help alleviate the healthcare crisis in California's Sacramento County.

Clinical services include basic medical services which address the needs of the whole person. As we develop, our goal is to identify competent providers who will address the spiritual, emotional, social and psychological needs of each individual. For most providers, this work is a manifestation of his or her religious belief. We also work with other agencies to develop a collaborative approach to meet the needs of each person, client and volunteer staff.

A unique feature of this program involves providing the same spiritual, emotional, social and psychological support to meet the needs of the volunteer staff. Time is given to reflect on the experience of providing care to our brothers and sisters. This is accomplished by setting aside time for volunteers to reflect and address, through advocacy efforts, the root causes of inequity in health care delivery, which include economic, political, social, bureaucratic, and institutional sources of stress.

The healthcare team will periodically reflect and address social justice concerns that affect healthcare delivery.   Such reflection, added with the privilege of daily ministry in caring for our brothers and sisters, will provide staff to grow in awareness of the gift of health and to further appreciate his or her ministry of health care.
