Our Wish List encompasses items needed to give our volunteer medical providers the basics to meet care needs of Clara's House clients. Items include glucose meters and strips. Any help you might be able to provide is gratefully appreciated. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization, and can provide you with tax deduction receipts for in-kind donations. If you give an in-kind donation to further the work of Clara's House, please be sure to return the in-kind donation form to us for IRS deduction credit. Please contact Sr. Kathy at (916) 448-3976 for further information.

Donating Time as a Volunteer

We ask volunteers to commit 100 hours of time at the clinic in 6 months with a minimum of 4 hours per volunteer shift each week. We provide extensive volunteer training, and require each volunteer to attend three classes of two hours each. The classes include Volunteer Orientation, a computer class on our online medical records system called Practice Fusion, and a computer class about the Clara's House particular mix of computer programs and systems. After completion of classes, volunteers are paired with a mentor to continue with hands-on training -- especially for front desk and nursing volunteers. We still need help in the following areas:

  • Front desk answering phones, making appointments, and checking-in clients
  • Nutritionists
  • Medical providers, specialty care
  • PC and Word users to create online medical forms
  • Outreach to partnership agencies
  • Grant writers
  • Filing and office organization
  • RNs for blood pressure screening clinics or immunization clinics
  • RNs, especially Spanish speaking, for home visits
  • Theraputic counselors, edpecially Spanish speaking
  • Physical therapists
  • Web master
  • Marketing manager to create a marketing plan
  • Business manager to update business plan

Potential volunteers need to complete an application form, return completed TB test and physical form, attend three classes, and obtain two letters of recommendation.

For a complete list of volunteer opportunities, please download the Volunteer Job Descriptions file. For further information, please contact Sr. Kathy at (916) 448-3976.

Scheduled Giving
Cash donations are always gratefully accepted. If you or your organization are able to donate monthly, it helps Clara's House volunteer medical providers see more clients each month. It costs Clara's House a mnimum of $50 per person to purchase lab tests and medications. Even $5.00 per month of scheduled giving helps tremendously. We can provide a form for your bank to start scheduled giving. We are a 501c3 (61-1591265) nonprofit organization, and all of your donations are tax deductible. For further information, please contact Sr. Kathy at (916) 448-3976.
